CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Before the jury was even selected, a convicted drug dealer made a plea deal to get a lesser sentence Tuesday. According to officials with the solicitor's office, 31-year-old Timothy Montez Wright pleaded guilty to several drug and weapons charges. Wright was charged with two counts of cocaine trafficking, two counts of cocaine distribution, and three counts of possession of a stolen firearm. Officials said that since Wright had and violent crimes, including voluntary manslaughter, he faced a sentence of life without parole. On Tuesday, the judge accepted Wright's guilty plea in exchange for a 25 year sentence. Wright was arrested back in 2015 after a police informant bought cocaine from him during a sting operation.
