MAME stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. When used in conjunction with images of the original arcade game's ROM and disk data, MAME attempts to reproduce that game as faithfully as possible on a more modern general-purpose computer. MAME can currently emulate several thousand different classic arcade video games from the late 1970s through the modern era. REDDIT'S ARCADE COMMUNITY • - a multireddit for retro gaming!

A client gave me an Arcade Legends 1 machine which works fine but the thing is locked down. I can't add any more ROM(s). I just need some recommendations on the new PC setup.

The PC I'm going to using is a IBM X-Series 203. I'm pretty sure this will do fine w/the latest build of MAME? OS will be TinyXP. Or, if there is any better recommendations? The current JAMMA controls use a USBlinx board which I believe is proprietary. I'm not sure if I can use this w/the new PC because it might need drivers etc.

Will I need to order an IPAC? I purchased a VGA to CGA arcade monitor hardware adapter. I know there is software solutions to kick out 15khz video but the bios will still boot up in the wrong frequency which is bad for the monitor, so I read. Which front end would you guys recommend? I just need something relatively simple to setup and isn't too resource intensive so Hyperspin is out. I would like the system to boot straight to the front end.
