Hi all I have a Triton Amber III electric shower which was working fine but today it worked for about a minute, then the flow of water reduced to the point that it came out scalding hot and was almost trickling out of the shower head. I've not changed the temperature dial and the mains water pressure seems no worse or better than usual. It seems to be when the heater kicks in, the flow reduces so much that it heats it way too much. I can get round it by turning the dial way down to 2 and it trickles out still far too hot, but I don't really want to use in case it goes on fire or something! Time to scrap it and buy a new one, or is it something that can be fixed? Cheers in advance for any advice. My Triton Shower (8 years old) finally gave up the ghost 2 weeks back complaining that there was insufficient water pressure and I eventually traced it to a faulty PRD switch (which should switch off the heating element if it gets too hot).

Replacing the switch was a possibility but quite expensive considering and who knows what else may have been wrong. So I opted to replace it with a Bristan Glee shower since as they look quite smart and show the temperature of the water also. Once it arrived it was relatively easy to fit and took about a couple of hours. As long as you are just replacing the shower and using existing wiring then it won't require an electrical certificate The only thing to watch out for is that the wiring is suitable for the power rating of the new shower - you will need a 45amp RCD for the 10.5kw version but this will allow for a more powerful shower experience. It really is simple to do and you can look up the complete manual on the Bristan website beforehand.
