So I just downloaded OS X Yosemite for my Macbook Pro. I then updated all of my Apps, such as Keynote, Pages, iMovie, etc etc. All my apps seem to be woking fine, except for iPhoto. It has a white circle with a line through it over the app.

When I click on it, I get a message that says 'In order to open “iPhoto, you need to update to the latest version. The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac is not compatible with OS X Yosemite. I upgraded iMovie and then opened it to see if it was OK. It worked thankfully.

Then in iMovie itself it has a tab at the top left for 'iPhoto Library' so I clicked it and to my surprise it opened my photos in iPhoto! So I clicked iPhoto icon and it said I needed to upgrade. I clicked upgrade and it then said my permissions need fixed. I clicked OK and would you believe it, it went ahead and upgraded! Hi I don't know of another way. Some Macs update flawlessly, perhaps because they are very recent models (like my daughters), but some have hiccups. I personally am on a mid 2007 iMac!
