In addition to the CPU, it consists of a number of essential peripherals, instruction/data cache, and Static RAM. The target applications are handheld, battery operated devices that require performance greater than that available from 16-bit and 32-bit CISC-based controllers. These devices include all monochrome LCD displays, keyboards, non-volatile memory (typically Flash), Static RAM, and other communications ports and external peripherals.
